Spalted Maple, Blue Box Elder, and Curly Maple Burl Sgian Dubh

8.75" sgain dubh "kilt knife" crafted with 4.5" brushed finish 1095 high carbon steel blade, a jimped spine, and hardened to approximately 60 HRC. The handle is a combination of beautiful two toned spalted maple, an incredibly detailed piece of blue box elder, and a wonderfully complex piece of curly maple burl. All of the wood in the handle is stabilized*.

Accompanying this blade is a handcrafted leather sheath. As the knife is meant to be worn tucked into the top of your kilt hose there is no belt loop on the sheath.

*Stabilized wood is wood that has been processed to improve its stability and durability by impregnating it with a resin or polymer. Dye is often introduced adding beautiful coloration to supplement the natural grain and patterns.
